March Love Offering – Lutheran Social Services (LSS)

The Love Offering for March benefits Lutheran Social Services (LSS). Envelopes are in the bulletin today. Make checks payable to Trinity with a notation “Love Offering”.

Ash Wednesday – March 6th

Ash Wednesday worship with Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion will be on Wednesday, March 6th at 6:45pm after a simple soup and salad meal which begins at 5:30pm and is served continuously until 6:15pm. Sign up for the meal on the list in the Hall of Memories to help our church hostess, Rae Ettmyer, plan. A freewill donation will be accepted for the meal.

1 Service at 10:00am with Congregational Meeting to Follow

Next Week, March 10th

A Congregational Meeting will be held next Sunday, March 10th. The purpose of the meeting is the adoption of amendments and revisions to the Constitution of Trinity Lutheran Church. The meeting will follow a single worship at 10:00am.

Copies of the existing constitution and the proposed constitution with the amendments and revisions (shaded areas) are available in the narthex. You may also request an electronic copy through the church office by email.

CEW Field Days

      The Field Days (Play Days) sponsored by the Children’s Enrichment Workshops (CEW) for the participating elementary schools will be coming up in March. Volunteers to help run activity stations are needed whether it is for several hours or the full day from 8:30am – 2:30pm. If you would like to help at one (or both!) of the Field Days, please contact Jan Nicholas at Riverside Presbyterian Church (355-4585 x 25) or speak to Pastor Robert.

The schedule for Field Days is:

Friday – March 1st – Central Riverside

Thursday – March 7th – Fishweir

Friday – March 8th – West Riverside

Honduras Mission Team

Our Honduras Mission Team returned yesterday from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. This year’s team members are Duane Tyson, Barbara Wittwer, Ruth Johnson, Marie Giddens, Cheryl Virta, Chelsea Virta-Steel, Rusty White, and Lou and Bonnie Kerekgyarto. Thanks to the entire team for their efforts and to you for your support of the team.

As of February 20th we have now exceeded our goal of $400,000.00 in pledges and contributions to the From this Foundation Our Ministry Grows with $400,975.00 committed!

Children’s Donations for Capital Campaign

Thank you to Trinity’s children for their donations totaling $608.00 from the piggy banks and Bean Soup Starters sold to date. There are additional piggy banks in the narthex so once you fill it up return it for another.

Broken any New Year’s Resolutions yet?

Here’s one you will find easy to keep!

The New Adult Sunday School Class will meet this morning with stimulating discussion and loving fellowship. They will not meet next week but will resume on March 17th. Coffee and refreshments start at 9:15. Discussion is from 9:30-10:30. There are a few seats left! Come by and see.

Takeaway

Takeaway Bible Study in the Hall of Memories this morning with Rusty White leading. There will be no Takeaway next week but will resume on March 17th with Pam Piersall and Sarah Knight leading.

Wednesday evenings – Lenten Bible Study

This Lenten Season, Wednesday, March 13th, 20th, 27th, April 3rd and 10th at 6:30pm in the Cecil Poole Room, Pastor Robert will be leading a Bible Study called “Entering the Passion of Jesus” (A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week). This study will use a video series narrated by Dr. Amy-Jill Levine, a University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies and Mary Jane Werthan, Professor of Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt Divinity School and College of Arts and Science.

In addition, there will be Lenten Devotional books, limited number, for your use available in the Narthex, titled “Everyone’s Way of the Cross.

NOTE: There will not be a meal preceding the Lenten Series.
