Welcome Reverend Patrick Bell – guest preacher this morning

We welcome the Reverend Patrick Bell, a retired ELCA pastor, as our guest minister today. Pastor Bell was born in Chicago, Illinois and graduated from Augustana College (Illinois) and the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. He served parishes in upper Michigan and Iowa before retiring and moving to Jacksonville in 2004.


Via De Cristo Men’s and Women’s – weekend #64

This weekend (April 25-28), Pastor Robert is serving as the Lead Spiritual Director for the Men’s VDC weekend at Luther Springs. (Reverend Patrick Bell will be our guest preacher on Sunday).

The Women’s weekend will be the following weekend (May 2-5). If you would like to know more about Via De Cristo or would be interested in attending a weekend, please speak to Joanne Martin or Pastor Robert.


Thrivent Night at the Jumbo Shrimp

Thrivent is hosting a night at the Jumbo Shrimp baseball game on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 5:30pm on the Skydeck. Tickets are $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for children 4 years and up. Tickets include a dinner buffet of ballpark favorites. To order tickets go to

Lutheranism 101 Class

Pastor Robert will be leading a class on the basic beliefs of the Lutheran Church and Christian faith. This is a wonderful opportunity for those who would like to know more about the Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and for those who would like to join as members of Trinity. The classes are tentatively set for the Sunday afternoons of May 5th, 19th, and June 2nd. Please speak to Pastor Robert if you are interested in attending or would like to know more about the classes.


Adult Sunday School and The Takeaway resume today

The Adult Sunday School class resumes this morning at 9:30 in the Cecil Poole Room. We’d love to have you come and take part in the lively discussions!

The Takeaway Bible study resumes this morning at 10:05 with Rusty White leading the discussion. Casey and Cheryl Virta Steel will lead next week’s discussion.


First Quarter Financial Giving Statements

First Quarter Financial Giving Statements have been mailed and received by members and friends of Trinity who have made contributions in 2019. Please review them carefully to ensure the accuracy of your giving, especially for the “From This Foundation” Capital campaign. If there is an error or question, please contact Lise York on Monday mornings between 10:00am and noon at the church office (389-5341).

Gumbo DeMayo is Coming!

Get your taste buds ready! James White, our custodian, will be cooking up his “Buen (Good) Gumbo” in May (25 & 26). Look for the sign-up sheet in the Hall of Memories in a few weeks. Mmmm!

Trinity Commemoratives

Just in case you missed them on Easter Sunday… In support of the From This Foundation Our Ministry Grows several people are providing unique items that may be purchased to Commemorate Trinity. Items are available this morning in the Hall of Memories. Thank you to all who donated their time and talents!

Note Cards with the Trinity Fountain will be available on Easter morning during the Easter Breakfast – $10.00 for a pack of 5 cards. These cards were designed and provided by Laura Karabinis.

Trinity “Rocks” are colorful rocks painted and decorated with symbols of the Trinity made by Donna White. Suggested donation is $5.00 each. Limited number will be available on Easter, but orders may be placed.

Red Commemorative Writing Pens with Trinity’s info will be available free to all Trinity families and friends. Please limit two per family.


Square Dancing at Trinity – Friday Evenings – 6:30pm

The Silver Fox Square Dance group is resuming under the direction of Ken Perez, who lives in Stark. If you are interested in trying out Square dancing, you are invited to come and learn free of charge before joining the group. Square dancing is a great form of exercise and fellowship!

Children’s Donations for Capital Campaign

Thank you to Trinity’s children for their donations totaling $626.00 from the piggy banks and Bean Soup Starters sold to date. There are additional piggy banks in the narthex so once you fill it up return it for another.

As of February 20th we have now exceeded our goal of $400,000.00 in pledges and contributions to From this Foundation Our Ministry Grows with $401,387.00 committed! It isn’t too late to commit or encourage memorials to From this Foundation Our Ministry Grows as the total renovation estimate is $925,000.00. Whether large or small, every commitment makes a difference. Pledge cards are available in the Friendship Registers. Thanks!
